As of 7 October 2026, Activision says Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 (MW4) launches on 23 October 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2, it says devices like the Cronus Zen "are not permitted in Call of Duty", and any script for the new game needs new weapon tables built after launch. The Zen itself is a controller to the console and is not tied to a game; a script's data is.

## When does Modern Warfare 4 launch, and on which platforms?

Activision's [announcement of 28 May 2026](https://www.callofduty.com/blog/2026/05/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-4-announcement) says the game "releases on Friday, October 23, 2026 on PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2", and: "It will not be available on PlayStation 4 or XBOX One." A [post of 12 June 2026](https://www.callofduty.com/blog/2026/06/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-4-campaign-early-access) gives digital pre-orders Campaign Early Access from 16 October. The [PC post of 29 September 2026](https://www.callofduty.com/blog/2026/09/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-4-pc-trailer-tech-specs-features) says "TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot are required to play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 on PC."

## Does the Cronus Zen work with Modern Warfare 4?

At the device level, yes, on the consoles Cronus supports. Cronus's [current guide](https://guide.cronuszen.com) lists support by console, not by game: its [Xbox Series page](https://guide.cronuszen.com/supported-devices/xboxseriesxs) covers all Xbox Series X|S models, its [PS5 page](https://guide.cronuszen.com/supported-devices/ps5) every PS5 model through Zen Link or the bypass, and its [Zen Link page](https://guide.cronuszen.com/zen-link/what-is-zen-link) lists "Full game compatibility" with PS5 titles. The console sees a controller.

Cronus's [Switch page](https://guide.cronuszen.com/supported-devices/switch) lists the Switch, Switch OLED and Switch Lite only, not Switch 2 ([compatibility tracker](/docs/cronus-zen-console-compatibility-tracker)); for PC see [PC setup](/docs/cronus-zen-pc-setup).

Scripts are separate: each is data built for one game.

## What would a script need to change for a new game?

| Element | Why it is game-specific | Modern Warfare 4, per Activision |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Anti-recoil tables | Values per weapon and attachment set | "Recoil, convergence, and weapon handling have been rebuilt to more directly reflect player input" |
| Attachment profiles | Recoil changes with attachments | Attachments "now shared by weapon class"; Apex Attachments "can significantly change how that weapon behaves in combat" |
| Aim settings | Scaled to the game's sensitivity, tuned around its aim assist | No aim assist details in the posts cited here |
| Movement macros | One game's binds and movement set | "Expanded movement options for Mantling, Climbing, Hanging and Jumping" |

Nothing here promises a working script: a table exists only after someone builds and tests it against the launch build, and each balance pass changes it again.

## What has Activision said about devices like the Zen?

- **2 February 2026.** Team RICOCHET's [Season 02 update](https://www.callofduty.com/blog/2026/02/call-of-duty-black-ops-7-ricochet-anti-cheat-season-02) names the Cronus Zen and XIM Matrix: "These devices are not permitted in Call of Duty. They are cheating tools, even if they masquerade as accessibility devices." Its detections "focus on how inputs behave, not which device is plugged in."
- **18 September 2026.** A [RICOCHET post on the cheating market](https://www.callofduty.com/blog/2026/09/ricochet-taking-on-the-cheating-ecosystem) lists "External devices and tools designed to manipulate gameplay, including Cronus, XIM, and Titan" among the cheats it fights.
- **29 September 2026.** The Modern Warfare 4 PC post describes RICOCHET as "server-side detections, hardware-based protections such as TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot integration, deep investigations, and legal action".
- **Standing policy.** The [Security and Enforcement Policy](https://support.activision.com/articles/call-of-duty-security-and-enforcement-policy) (page dated 31 July 2026) covers "Call of Duty console and PC titles released thereafter" from Modern Warfare (2019), lists "unapproved input modification devices", and says permanent bans "can apply across titles".

Activision has not said how its detections will treat input devices in Modern Warfare 4; this page does not guess. [Is the Cronus Zen detectable?](/docs/is-the-cronus-zen-detectable) keeps the dated record.

## What changes for Warzone?

The 28 May announcement says Season 1 comes "shortly after" launch, that from Season 1 Warzone "will integrate Modern Warfare 4 content and seasonal progression", and that Warzone on PS4 and Xbox One stops being playable then. The [Warzone post of 24 September 2026](https://www.callofduty.com/blog/2026/09/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-4-warzone-season-1-operator-toggle) keeps weapons from Modern Warfare II through Black Ops 7 in the Legacy tab without Gunsmith or prior custom loadouts, with a five-attachment version of each base weapon, and says Raven Software will keep "balancing weapons on a biweekly basis". For a script: new tables for Modern Warfare 4 weapons, custom legacy builds gone, frequent passes.

## Where do Black Ops 7 and Warzone stand until launch?

Until 23 October, Black Ops 7 is the current release: [the Black Ops 7 hub](/docs/call-of-duty-black-ops-7-cronus-zen) and [Warzone and the Zen](/docs/warzone-cronus-zen) cover the current season, and [anti-recoil scripts explained](/docs/call-of-duty-anti-recoil-scripts-explained) shows why a new game means new tables. This page will be updated at launch.

## FAQ

**Does the Cronus Zen work on Modern Warfare 4?**

As a controller on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, yes: Cronus documents the Zen by console, not by game. Activision says devices like the Zen 'are not permitted in Call of Duty', and scripts need new tables built against the launch build.

**When does Modern Warfare 4 come out?**

Activision says 23 October 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2, with Campaign Early Access from 16 October for digital pre-orders. It is not coming to PS4 or Xbox One.

**Will my Black Ops 7 script work on MW4?**

Not as a Modern Warfare 4 script. Its recoil tables were built for Black Ops 7 weapons, and Activision says Modern Warfare 4's recoil and weapon handling have been rebuilt. Plain button remaps do not depend on the game; tables need a new build after launch.

**Can you get banned for using a Cronus Zen on MW4?**

Activision's enforcement policy covers Call of Duty titles from Modern Warfare (2019) onward, lists unapproved input modification devices as a violation, and says permanent bans can apply across titles. It has not published how its detections will treat such devices in Modern Warfare 4 specifically.

**Does the Cronus Zen work on MW4 on Nintendo Switch 2?**

Cronus's current Switch page lists the Switch, Switch OLED and Switch Lite only, so Modern Warfare 4 on Switch 2 is outside what Cronus documents.

**What happens to Warzone when Modern Warfare 4 launches?**

Activision says Warzone integrates Modern Warfare 4 content from Season 1, which starts shortly after launch, and stops being playable on PS4 and Xbox One at that point. Legacy weapons stay, without Gunsmith.
