The Cronus Zen works on NBA 2K27 as a controller, but on 24 September 2026 2K began issuing permanent bans for "cheats and scripts" used for "shooting aids and other input manipulation", retroactive to the start of early access. NBA 2K27 is the current edition: early access opened on 26 August and it launched worldwide on 4 September 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2. This hub is the map: 2K's position, what a script changes, what the patch rhythm does to it, and the setup a timing script needs.

## 2K's position

On 24 September 2026 the [NBA 2K account on X](https://x.com/NBA2K/status/2103167581523742929) posted a statement headed "Protecting Fair Play": "We have issued the first wave of permanent bans against accounts using cheats and scripts to gain an unfair advantage through shooting aids and other input manipulation." It says "Any account found to have used these methods to cheat since Early Access on August 26, 2026, is subject to a permanent account ban, and repeated cheating will result in a console/PC ban", that "Every ban is reviewed and confirmed before it is applied", and that detection has "new capabilities already in development". The statement does not name the Cronus Zen or any device, and it does not say how cheating is detected. [Is the Cronus Zen detectable?](/docs/is-the-cronus-zen-detectable) keeps the position current alongside the other publishers', and [the NBA 2K27 ban wave page](/docs/nba-2k27-ban-wave-september-2026) covers what the statement says and leaves out. Nothing on this site describes any script as undetectable.

## What a script changes in 2K27

| Feature | What it does | Depends on | Goes stale when |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Shot timing | Releases the shot button inside the green window after a stored delay | Calibration per jumpshot, shot type and chain | Any patch touching timing or animations; a new jumpshot |
| Dribble combos | One press sends a move chain | Your binds and the game's dribble inputs | Rarely; a mechanic change |
| Timed dunks and layups | Releases inside the meter window | Calibration | Patches to the meter |
| Remaps | Any button to any button | Nothing | Never |
| Persistent settings | Saves calibration across sessions | The script's use of persistent storage | A downgrade or factory reset |

[NBA 2K shooting scripts explained](/docs/nba-2k-shooting-scripts-explained) is the mechanism; [Scripts by game](/docs/cronus-zen-scripts-by-game) is the wider picture.

## The patch rhythm

| Period | What happens | What it means for a script |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Early access and launch | Early access 26 August; worldwide launch 4 September 2026 | 2K26 calibrations are void |
| First weeks | Updates on 28 and 31 August and 3 and 11 September; the 31 August update reduced the Shot Artist and Calibrated Takeover abilities | Recalibrate after any that touch shooting or animations |
| 17 September 2026 | Gameplay update: stronger defensive contests, a slight boost for wide-open looks | Contests change make rates; re-test the release window anyway |
| Before Season 2 | 2K says a broader patch spanning the whole game will ship first | Expect to recalibrate |
| Next year's release | Everything changes | Retire the script; the new edition's build |

## Setup that a timing script needs

| Element | Setting | Why |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Play pad | Official pad, wired; on A1 on Xbox, on A3 on PS5 | Constant lag; [the authentication controller](/docs/cronus-zen-authentication-controller) |
| Zen | Direct into the console, no hub | No power stutter; [ports and cables](/docs/cronus-zen-ports-and-cables) |
| PS5 | Zen Link on A1, pad on A3, Cronus's PS5 settings applied | Cronus's current guide recommends Zen Link; the bypass without it is a manual procedure that has to be repeated. [PS5 setup](/docs/cronus-zen-ps5-setup) |
| Xbox | Official Microsoft pad, wired, on A1 | [Xbox Series setup](/docs/cronus-zen-xbox-series-setup) |
| Display | Game mode on | The largest lag most people can remove; [input lag](/docs/cronus-zen-input-lag) |
| Calibration | On the pad and display you play on | The delay includes the chain |
| Settings | Saved to persistent storage | [Slots and memory](/docs/cronus-zen-script-slots-and-memory) |

## Quirks specific to 2K

- **Shot timing setting.** The game's own shot timing and meter settings shift the window; calibrate with the settings you will play on and do not change them afterwards.
- **One profile per jumpshot.** Change the jumpshot, change the profile. Most scripts hold several.
- **MyCareer versus Play Now.** Different players, different jumpshots; calibrate the one you play.
- **Contests and fatigue** still decide the outcome, and 2K strengthened contests on 17 September. A green window is not a made basket.

## FAQ

**Does the Cronus Zen work on NBA 2K27?**

As a controller, yes: the console sees a pad, and 2K26 scripts do not carry over. On 24 September 2026 2K began permanent bans against accounts using cheats and scripts for shooting aids and other input manipulation.

**What can a script change in NBA 2K27?**

The shot release timing after a calibration, dribble-move combos on one press, timed dunks, and remaps. It cannot see the meter or change shot logic.

**Why does my 2K27 script need recalibrating so often?**

2K's patch page lists updates on 28 and 31 August and 3, 11 and 17 September 2026, and says a broader patch will ship before Season 2. Any update that touches shooting or animations can move the window. Recalibrate after each, or load the author's update.

**Has 2K banned Cronus Zen users?**

2K's statement of 24 September 2026 does not name the Cronus Zen or any device. It announces a first wave of permanent bans against accounts using cheats and scripts for shooting aids and other input manipulation, retroactive to early access on 26 August 2026, with console or PC bans for repeat cheating.

**Wired or wireless for 2K27?**

Wired for anything timing-related: the pad on A1 on Xbox, on A3 on PS5, where Zen Link takes A1. Wireless adds variable lag that a calibration cannot absorb.

**PS5 or Xbox for the Zen on 2K27?**

Both work. On PS5, Cronus recommends Zen Link; Xbox needs an official pad on A1. NBA 2K27 is also on Switch 2, which Cronus's Switch page does not list.
