The Cronus Zen works on Rust Console Edition as a controller, but Double Eleven, which runs the console edition, counts scripts that give a game advantage and devices that enable mouse and keyboard as cheating, and bans players it detects using third-party devices. Rust is a game about learned recoil, which makes it an obvious home for a pattern script. This hub covers Double Eleven's rules first, then what a script changes, the update rhythm and the setup.

## The rules, first

Double Eleven's [anti-cheat update of 8 August 2025](https://rust.double11.com/news/hl1r6ajufml5wg4dvu1ix5e0262r49) defines cheating as "using third party devices that either make parts of the game way easier or give a player an unfair advantage over others in a PVP scenario", and names two cases: "the use of scripts that provide a game advantage" and "using external devices to enable mouse and keyboard to be used when playing the game, even when it's not officially supported". It introduced RustGuard: players detected using third-party devices are banned, with "one redemption opportunity where the ban will only be 3 days" in the first wave and a permanent ban if caught again, and "all bans will be final". The [Rust Console Edition Code of Conduct](https://rust.double11.com/code-of-conduct) prohibits "Any use of 3rd party devices to gain advantage or alter the gameplay, or the promotion of such devices." Neither page names the Cronus Zen. [Is the Cronus Zen detectable?](/docs/is-the-cronus-zen-detectable) keeps the documented positions current. Nothing on this site describes any script as undetectable.

## What a script changes

| Feature | What it does | Depends on | Goes stale when |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Pattern anti-recoil | A time-based sequence of stick pulls matching the weapon's spray | A table per weapon | A weapon change |
| Farming and crafting macros | Repeats a harvesting or crafting input sequence | Binds; menu layout | UI changes |
| Anti-AFK | Periodic input to avoid idle disconnect | Nothing | Never; check the server's rules |
| Rapid fire | Semi-auto weapons as repeated presses | Fire mode | Rarely |
| Remaps | Any button to any | Nothing | Never |

[Apex Legends recoil scripts explained](/docs/apex-legends-recoil-scripts-explained) is the same pattern mechanism; [how the Zen works](/docs/how-the-cronus-zen-works) is the device-level explanation.

## The update rhythm

| Period | What happens | What it means |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Updates | Content and fixes on Double Eleven's schedule | Read the notes for weapon changes |
| Weapon changes | A changed weapon's pattern | That weapon's profile |
| Wipes | Server resets | Nothing for a script |
| Console-specific patches | Controller and UI changes | Macros may break |

A table lasts as long as the weapon stays unchanged, which is why a free script or a one-off is often the sensible route; [free vs paid](/docs/free-vs-paid-cronus-zen-scripts).

## Setup that keeps a pull steady

| Element | Setting | Why |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Play pad | Wired; on A1 on Xbox, on A3 on PS5 | [Wired vs wireless](/docs/wired-vs-wireless-controllers-cronus-zen) |
| Zen | Direct into the console | [Ports and cables](/docs/cronus-zen-ports-and-cables) |
| PS5 | Zen Link on A1, pad on A3, Cronus's PS5 settings applied (no rest mode while playing) | [PS5 setup](/docs/cronus-zen-ps5-setup) |
| Xbox | Official Microsoft pad, wired, on A1 | [Xbox Series setup](/docs/cronus-zen-xbox-series-setup) |
| Sensitivity | Entered in the script as in the game | Tables scaled to it |
| Test | On a wall on a private or low-pop server | Before a fight |

## Quirks specific to Rust Console Edition

- **Separate game.** Console Edition is run by Double Eleven with Facepunch, apart from PC Rust; build and test tables on Console Edition.
- **Long sessions.** Farming macros run for hours; power stability matters more than anywhere else; [disconnecting](/docs/cronus-zen-disconnecting).
- **Server rules.** Community servers can have their own rules on macros on top of Double Eleven's.
- **Attachments.** Scopes change the effective pattern; a profile per attachment set if the script offers it.

## FAQ

**Does the Cronus Zen work on Rust Console Edition?**

As a controller, yes, but Double Eleven, which runs the console edition, counts scripts that give a game advantage and devices that enable mouse and keyboard as cheating, and bans players it detects using third-party devices.

**What can a script change in Rust Console Edition?**

Pull the stick against a weapon's spray pattern, automate repetitive inputs such as farming or crafting sequences, and remap. It cannot see the target or the base.

**How often do Rust console tables break?**

Only when an update changes a weapon. Read Double Eleven's update notes for the weapons you use rather than assuming a table is current.

**Do PC Rust scripts work on Console Edition?**

Do not assume so. Console Edition is a separate game from PC Rust, run by Double Eleven with Facepunch, so build and test tables on Console Edition itself.

**What are the rules?**

Double Eleven's 8 August 2025 anti-cheat update says scripts that provide a game advantage and devices that enable unsupported mouse and keyboard are cheating; its RustGuard system bans detected players, three days on a first offence in the first wave and permanently after that.

**Wired or wireless?**

Wired for spray control: the pad on A1 on Xbox, on A3 on PS5, where Zen Link takes A1.
