Cronus's current guide lists firmware 2.3.2 (18 August 2026) as the latest release, and its changelog lists Zen Studio Live 1.0.9 (8 September 2026) as the newest release of the browser tool. Cronus's older guide at guide.cronus.support still shows firmware 2.2.14 and names 1.6.1 Build 82 as the latest desktop Zen Studio; the dates below come from the changelog in the current guide at guide.cronuszen.com, read on 7 October 2026. This page is a record, not a guide. The procedure for applying any of it is in [Firmware: update, downgrade, recovery](/docs/cronus-zen-firmware-update-downgrade-recovery). For what the 2.3 releases change in practice, and whether to install the beta, see [firmware 2.3.2 and Zen Link 2.1.4](/docs/cronus-zen-firmware-2-3-changes).

## Console changes that affected the Zen

| Console | What Cronus says | Cronus's answer |
| --- | --- | --- |
| PS5 | Its current [PS5 page](https://guide.cronuszen.com/supported-devices/ps5) supports every PS5 model through Zen Link or the [bypass](https://guide.cronuszen.com/supported-devices/ps5/ps5bypass), which it describes as a manual procedure that has to be repeated; it gives no date or system update number. Its older guide marks the bypass "No Longer Supported" | Zen Link, which Cronus recommends: support in firmware 2.2.4 (5 September 2024), PS5 Native Mode in 2.2.14 and Zen Link 0.9.9.14 (5 November 2025). [PS5 setup](/docs/cronus-zen-ps5-setup) |
| Xbox | Cronus's guide records no Xbox system update that stopped the Zen working; its Xbox pages give a power-cycle fix for controllers that will not connect | [Xbox Series setup](/docs/cronus-zen-xbox-series-setup) |

## Publisher enforcement changes

These are not firmware events but they are dated changes an owner should know about, and they are recorded in full in [Is the Cronus Zen detectable?](/docs/is-the-cronus-zen-detectable).

| When | Who | What |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 2023 | Activision, Ricochet | Announced detection of third-party hardware including the Zen, with permanent bans; cease-and-desist letters to hardware makers followed |
| 2 Feb 2026 | Activision, Ricochet | Season 02 post names the Cronus Zen and XIM Matrix; detections study input behaviour; flagged hardware and accounts blocked (Season 02 launched 5 Feb) |
| 4 Mar 2026 | Respawn, EA | Apex Legends competitive integrity update: Strikepacks, Cronus, XIM named; permanent bans; no appeals for leniency |
| Ongoing | Epic | Lists the Zen as restricted hardware in Fortnite |

## What to do when a new firmware appears

| The release note says | Do |
| --- | --- |
| Names your console, your controller or Zen Link | Update now |
| Names only fixes you do not need, and your setup works | Update on a day you are not depending on the device |
| Is marked beta | Wait for the release that is not, unless you need the fix |
| Nothing about your pad, and your pad started misbehaving after | Check Cronus's changelog for a follow-up release |
| Anything | Keep your .gpc files; Cronus says scripts cannot be backed up from the Zen |

Check this page again after a game or console update, because that is when the next entry usually arrives.

## FAQ

**What is the current Cronus Zen firmware version?**

Cronus's current guide lists firmware 2.3.2 (18 August 2026) as the latest release, with 2.3.3 Beta 1 (8 September 2026) as a beta. Its older guide still shows 2.2.14, so check the updater's latest option rather than either page.

**What is the current Zen Studio version?**

Zen Studio Live 1.0.9 (8 September 2026) for the browser tool, per Cronus's changelog, and 1.6.1 Build 82 for the desktop app, the build Cronus's older guide names and files under Zen Studio (Legacy); the current guide's Downloads page lists only Zen Studio Live. Desktop 1.5.0 Build 24 has an auto-update bug and should be uninstalled before installing the current build.

**Which console update broke the Zen on PS5?**

Cronus's guides do not name one. Its current guide says the Zen works on every PS5 model through Zen Link or the PS5 bypass, recommends Zen Link, and describes the bypass as a manual procedure that has to be repeated. Zen Link support arrived in firmware 2.2.4 (5 September 2024) and PS5 Native Mode in 2.2.14 (5 November 2025).

**Do I need to recompile scripts after a firmware update?**

Cronus does not give a rule. It links stack and bytecode errors to scripts designed for a different firmware, and Zen Studio Live has dropped some older GPC functions, so check the script author's notes after an update.

**Should I update firmware the day it comes out?**

If the release note names your console, your controller or Zen Link, yes. If it names only fixes you do not need, or is marked beta, update on a day you are not depending on the device.

**Where is Cronus's own changelog?**

In Cronus's current guide at guide.cronuszen.com, with a page for 2026 and an archive back to 2022. The changelog on its older guide at guide.cronus.support stops at firmware 2.2.12 and desktop Zen Studio 1.6.1 Build 77.
