Cronus Zen vs Strike Pack: same maker, different products
Cronus Zen vs Strike Pack: both from Collective Minds; the Strike Pack adds paddles, recoil assist and macros to one pad, while the Zen runs any GPC script.
The Strike Pack and the Cronus Zen are different products from the same maker, Collective Minds: the Strike Pack clips onto one controller and adds paddles, recoil assist and macros, while the Zen sits between controller and console and runs any GPC script. People ask because both carry the Collective Minds name and both promise mods. Price, flexibility and setup are all different.
What each one is
| Cronus Zen | Strike Pack | |
|---|---|---|
| Form | A box between controller and console | An attachment for a specific controller model, wired to the console |
| Extra buttons | None on the device | Back paddles or back buttons, two or four depending on model |
| Mods | Any GPC script or GamePack, eight 32 KB slots | Built in, per model: recoil assist, aim assist and custom macros on current models; a fixed list on legacy ones |
| Configuration | Zen Studio Live in a browser, or the legacy desktop Zen Studio | Strike Pack Central phone app (Horizon), Mod Central web editor (Dominator) |
| Console support | PS5 with Zen Link, Xbox Series, Xbox One, PS4, Switch | Per model: Horizon for the DualSense (PS5, PC) and for Xbox pads; Dominator and Eliminator for Xbox and PS4 pads |
| Authentication pad | A matching pad on A1 for crossover play | Not needed; the pad it attaches to connects to the console |
| Mouse and keyboard | Yes | No |
| Screen | OLED | No |
| Price | Higher; more with Zen Link | Lower |
Mods: built-in features versus scripts
| Mod | Strike Pack | Zen |
|---|---|---|
| Rapid fire | Built in on the legacy Eliminator; as a macro on current models | Any script |
| Anti-recoil | "Recoil assist", adjustable, on current models | Per weapon, per attachment, in a script, updated by its author after patches |
| Paddle remaps | Yes; that is the product's core | Via a script, on a pad that has paddles already |
| Drop shot, auto-run | Built in on the legacy Eliminator; custom macros on current models | Any script |
| Shot timing for NBA 2K | Not a listed feature | Yes |
| Anything beyond its macros | No | Write it or load it |
| Game-specific packs | GamePack mode on Horizon models; an optional Mod Pass subscription on legacy models | Cronus's GamePacks, and thousands of community scripts in its GPC Library |
A Strike Pack's recoil assist is a setting you adjust and its macros are ones you build or download for it. Neither changes by itself when a game rebalances its weapons, whereas a maintained per-weapon script's author can ship new values. Scripts by game shows what per-game scripts do.
Setup and daily use
| Zen | Strike Pack | |
|---|---|---|
| First setup | Firmware, tool, console wiring, and Zen Link on PS5; PS5, Xbox | Attach it and connect the pad's cable; on Horizon models, update its firmware and set it up in the app |
| Wireless play | PlayStation and Switch pads by Bluetooth; Xbox pads through the Xbox Wireless Adapter | Wired to the console by design |
| Changing a mod | Select a slot with P1, or change a GamePack option on the OLED | In the app on Horizon models; see the model's manual for the rest |
| Reading state | OLED and LEDs | The app on Horizon models; no screen |
| Cables | Two data cables plus any wired pad | One |
| What can go wrong | The chain: cable, port, pad, module; not detected | The attachment's fit and the pad's port |
Risk
The same in kind. A rapid-fire mod on a Strike Pack and a rapid-fire script on a Zen produce the same input. Respawn's 4 March 2026 post names "Strikepacks, Cronus, XIM, and similar hardware" and says confirmed accounts are permanently banned; Activision's 2 February 2026 post names the Zen and says its detections look at how inputs behave, which does not depend on the brand; and Collective Minds' own Zen listing carries Epic's prohibition of the Cronus Zen, Cronus Max and Strike Pack in Fortnite and Rocket League. Nothing about either product is undetectable. Is the Cronus Zen detectable?.
Which to buy
| If | Buy |
|---|---|
| Paddles and a few common mods, cheapest, simplest | Strike Pack for your controller model |
| Any script, any game, updated after patches | Zen |
| NBA 2K timing scripts | Zen; shot timing is not a listed Strike Pack feature |
| Mouse and keyboard on console | Zen |
| Paddles on a pad that has none, plus nothing else | Strike Pack, or a controller with paddles built in |
| A pad that already has paddles | DualSense Edge or Elite through the Zen covers that combination |
Cronus Zen alternatives puts the Strike Pack next to the whole field.

Frequently asked
- Is the Strike Pack the same as the Cronus Zen?
- No. Same maker, Collective Minds, different product. The Strike Pack is a controller attachment with paddles or back buttons, recoil assist and macros; the Zen is a separate box that runs scripts.
- Can the Strike Pack run Cronus scripts?
- No. It has no GPC slots. Its features are built in and configured through Collective Minds' phone app on Horizon models, or its web editor on Dominator models.
- Which is cheaper?
- The Strike Pack. In Collective Minds' product listings on 7 October 2026 every Strike Pack model listed cost less than the Zen. It is also a controller attachment, so it needs no modules or second pad.
- Does the Strike Pack need an authentication controller?
- No. It attaches to the controller it is designed for, and that controller connects to the console by cable.
- Does the Strike Pack work on PS5?
- Yes, with the Strike Pack Horizon for the standard DualSense, which Collective Minds lists for PS5 and PC. Models are per controller: the PS4 Dominator, for example, is for the DualShock 4 on PS4.
- Which is more detectable?
- Neither is undetectable. Respawn's statement of 4 March 2026 names 'Strikepacks, Cronus, XIM, and similar hardware', and Collective Minds' own Zen listing says Epic informed it that the Cronus Zen, Cronus Max and Strike Pack are prohibited in Fortnite and Rocket League.
